I've seen this restaurant so many times and finally got the chance to try it. We came on a Sunday around 3pm so there was no wait and very little people. We chose to sit on the outside. We ordered The Abbey burger and an order of fries. Their burger was delicious and juicy! The salad was good but had too much dressing for my liking. The fries were thin and crunchy. They came with 3 dipping sauces. I knocked down one star for service because it was hard to flag anyone down for refill of water in which we never got and to get the check.
Cool hangout spot. Stopped by their happy hour and enjoyed their Bavarian soft pretzels, green olives with smoked roasted almonds, brat bites that included a flavorful medley of bell peppers and grilled onions, along with an icy cold Bavik (Belgian Pilsner). Will need to return for their burgers. Every other plate coming out had a beautifully layered cheeseburger or cheese melt.
What I had: - Turkey burger ($18) - The Back Abbey burger ($19) - Abbey lager ($8) - Duchesse red ($8) How it tasted: - I enjoyed everything except for the turkey burger. The consistency was a bit odd, but the back abbey burger was pretty delightful along with the paired drinks. Why did I give it a four? - Decent beer selection and solid food. Staff are always friendly, but it can get a bit chaotic depending on when you arrive to eat. Verdict? - Give it a shot :).
Food was amazing burger that I didn't get a pic of was sooo great one of my top 5 burgers ever meat was cooked to perfection and the fries we order that were cooked in duck oil HELLO Amelia was on point with the service and information about everything and Julia took care of us and was very attentive and knowledgeable with what ever we asked I will be back
Cute spot off the courtyard area in Claremont. Specializing in a Belgian inspired theme, we tried this spot out for happy hour which they even feature on weekends until 5:00! Certain cocktails were $11 and it was $2 off beer and wine. They also had duck fat fries for $6.50 which I highly recommend. I just had to take the plunge despite my cholesterol numbers. Made from fresh potatoes they are really tasty with a surprising crisp to them. A small yet generous serving will set you back $6.50. I had their Cabernet from Paso Robles which was smooth and delicious. I don't recall the name but it was the only cab on the menu for $15 a glass. On Wednesdays full bottles are half off. Would drop by again!
Great chill place that's themed like European pubs. The food is great and drinks were mixed perfectly. Got yummy mussels Not in Brussels, crab cakes, and the Backyard Burger. The bread and sauce from the mussels were delicious, I could've drank it all! Our waiter was great as he recommended his favorite blonde ales since they didn't have any golden ales.
Top notch service from our waiter. Drinks are fire pretzels are yummy. Highly recommend the refreshing drinks and they have happy hour !
This is my first time here. I wanted to venture out from my area, and since this place was near my PT, I decided to give it a try. I was looking at the spicy fried schnitzel sandwich. My server, Amelia A. said that was one of the most popular ones, so I was glad to order that for my first meal here. It was delicious as I had imagined!! Crispy outside and flavorful and juicy chicken. And the side salad was fresh and had perfect flavot and amount of dressing. Food and Service were all excellent. The ambiance was nice, cool, and relaxed casual atmosphere. I would definitely recommend coming out here to give them a try. Thank you, Amelia and Back Abbey team, for a great meal and service!!
Cute, small gem In Claremont! It's open seating, so I can see where it can be a little hassle if it gets super busy (it's quite small inside). Perfect spot to catch a drink with a friend. They have a variety of different cocktails, wine and beer on tap. I got the paper plane, which is a fave! We also opted to order the frites, which comes with ketchup, horseradish and ranch. Very crispy and absolutely enjoyed the ranch! Definitely will be coming back(:
Location / Located in the village with the other restaurants and shops. The place itself has indoor and outdoor seating. Great for small or large groups. My group say outside and they had these warm heaters which felt extremely cozy. Food / I got the pommel frites which are absolutely hands down one of the best fries I've ever had! They make their dipping sauces in house and my favorite was their green ranch!! I had to order an extra side of it - THAT FREAKING GOOD. If you're a huge ranch lover like me, this will be your top tier ranch flavor explosion experience! Fries were super crisp on the outside and fluffy in the inside. A large order is huge and you can definitely eat it as a meal like I did or share among your group. Service / Awesome! Server was attentive and checked up on us a few times. Place is great for fries! Come check it out
